Plant-Based Taste Awards 2025

Now, in its fifth year, the Plant-Based Taste Awards are back again to celebrate more flavourful products across the whole international plant-based food and drink industry.

New for 2025 - the public vote will take place online via The Plant Base news website. FoodBev Awards will be promoting entries throughout this period; companies are encouraged to also promote public voting via their own communications.  

Being successfully shortlisted provides a hallmark of success that will prevail long after the awards ceremony and can highlight the contribution your company’s products and team are making to the plant-based industry.

    START

    Complete the Enter Now form. Here you submit basic contact information. On completion, you will receive a detailed email with links to come back to the following steps.

    Eligibility

    • All products must be plant-based / vegan. 

    • There is no product release time restriction for entries.  

    • Products must be available to purchase (online, in-store, or elsewhere) between June 9 and November 21. Please alert us to any changes whilst the awards are open.

    PAYMENT

    Once completed you will be redirected to our payment portal. If you are unable to pay via card, you can complete our 'Enter by invoice' form. (please note this can take up to 1-2 days).

    Each standard entry costs £350 (+vat) per product/flavour. Each product may only be submitted once

    We offer special discounts for multiple products. 

    There is also a reduced rate of 40% off (+vat) for small businesses.

    SUBMISSION

    After payment, you will be redirected to our online entry submission form. Due to the public voting system for this year, all entries will be pending approval before going live on the directory. Approval processing can take 1-2 days. 

    What you will require for submission:

    • Invoice number - received after payment

    • Contact details - to receive updates, results, and media kits

    • Company details - name, logo, website 

    • Product details - your product details: Brand, product name, images, full ingredients including allergens, where your product is stocked, storage, max 400-word description to share online (this may be shortened for marketing purposes) 

    • Product tags - used to filter your product on the directory.

    • Where your product is stocked / can be purchased

    VOTING & RESULTS

    Once approved your submission will be visible on The Plant Base media website's public judging directory. You will be sent a digital media pack to share voting information with your audience. 

    All entries will be judged on taste. Please make sure your stockist information is up-to-date, and alert us to any changes while the awards judging is open. 

     

    Consumers and judges will be expected to acquire your products before submitting their votes. If judges are unable to access your products for sampling, we may contact you to deliver samples to their address.

    Public voting system opens: June 9

    Public voting closes: November 21

    Once voting has closed, winners, finalists and commended entries will be announced via our online media platform The Plant Base. 

    Your result will be determined by combining the averages of the Judges (60%) and consumers (40%). 

    75% + will be awarded - Winner

    50-74% will be awarded - Finalist

    49% and below will be awarded - Commended

    Evaluation: Gain validation from both our official expert judging panel AND direct votes from your own consumers, offering assessment of taste and appeal 

    Tiers of Recognition: Your result will be determined by combining the averages of the Judges (60%) and consumers (40%). 

    75% + will be awarded - Winner

    50-74% will be awarded - Finalist

    49% and below will be awarded - Commended

    Focus on Flavour: We've removed traditional categories, with products judged purely on their own taste and quality, standing on their individual merit. Multiple filters will be available on the judging system to find the right products faster.

    Foodservice: Restaurants, cafes, bakeries, takeaways, and more can now celebrate their own meals and products. Get consumers to vote at theplantbasemag.com after submitting your dish. 

    NEW The Plant Base Directory: Gain year-round visibility! All entrants' products will be showcased in the new theplantbasemag.com Taste Awards directory, connecting you directly with consumers, retailers, and foodservice buyers searching for quality plant-based options. Voting will also take place here. 

    Public voting report: Receive a report detailing your voter demographics, feedback highlights, and constructive criticism (depth of report dependent on vote volume) to help you refine and market your offerings effectively.

    Products will be evaluated purely on their taste, with feedback also given on texture, appearance, and value for money.

    Your result will be determined by combining the averages of the Judges (60%) and consumers (40%). 

    Judging will take place by selecting a product in the Plant-Based Taste Awards directory on theplantbasemag.com. Voters will need to log in/create an account to rate products/edit their votes and keep track of their selected products.

    FoodBev Awards & The Plant Base will be promoting entries throughout the voting period to ensure as many votes are collected from the public. We encourage companies to also promote their participation via their own channels and packaging to maximise results and improve their audience report.

    • Your success will also be promoted as a dedicated top story on ThePlantBaseMag.com 

    • Your winning entry published in our winner's article feature in our Plant Base magazine distributed to readers globally.​

    Your result will be determined by combining the averages of the Judges (60%) and consumers (40%). Scores will be allocated a percentage to calculate outcome. 

    75% + will be awarded - Winner

    50-74% will be awarded - Finalist

    49% and below will be awarded - Commended

Mitch Lee

Head of Sales, Purezza

Mitch Lee
Mitch is a passionate vegan and champion of all things free-from. In 2018 he launched a ready meal range 'Mitch's Kitchen' focusing on whole food plant based ingredients, free from nuts, gluten, palm oil & refined sugars. Over the past few years he has worked for meat successor brand Heura, and now Purezza & La Fauxmagerie - pioneers of plant based cheese. He is a keen member of the FMCG community known for his knowledge and views on the industry. For the past 2 years he has been a Free From & Great Taste Award Judge so his taste-buds are well versed. He is excited to be on the panel to help judge the 2024 Plant-Based Taste Awards now too!

Sushma Raval

Founder of a family run mindful Vegan Cookery Academy

Sushma Raval
Vegan Culinary expert Sushma Raval hails from Bromley, Kent, offering a range of nutritious vegetarian and vegan products and cook-a-long experiences focusing on best practices and mindful eating habits. Naani Maa’s is a family-run business, with her husband and sous chef, Chetan, who shares her passion about the healing properties of food. Sushma creates magic by adding her modern twist to a secret family recipe. Her famous Artisan Spices and cashew nuts are her pride and joy. Her mission is to Create gourmet Indian food for the mind, body, and soul. Her Indian heritage and spirituality are central to her life. When she is not cooking or crafting new and delightful recipes in her super secret lab, she spends her time reading, meditating, dancing, and observing mindful practices. Reiki anyone?

Stephanie Rupp

Accounts Development Manager, HRA Global

Stephanie Rupp
Steph is passionate about food and drink through and through. Her current role is Business Development Manager at HRA Global, a food and drink consultancy based in Devon. Her experience includes working for Riverford Organic Farmers and a Swedish energy drink company, focusing on event management and trade show activations. As a keen foodie and vegetarian, Steph thrives on organising both in-person and virtual events that engage customers. In her spare time, she competes in CrossFit or seeks out local independent restaurants, blending her love for fitness and exploring culinary delights. Her enthusiasm and connection skills make her an asset in food and beverage consultancy.

Melissa Bradshaw is the editor of The Plant Base, FoodBev Media’s publication dedicated to the dissemination of news and insights on the plant-based food and beverage sector. As a passionate advocate for all things plant-based, Melissa is keenly interested in delving into the developments of a forward-thinking and dynamic industry, exploring the latest innovations on offer and how the market is evolving.
